PPFA establishes medical standards and protocols and provides educational
information, technical support, and financial assistance for its 128 affiliates,
which include 875 health centers in 48 states and the District of Columbia.
PPFA's national office disseminates teaching materials and assists
with affiliate education programs; fact sheets, and background
information on issues are also provided to affiliates. The national
office also monitors reproductive technology, conducts research,
educates the public about the health care services available
at the affiliate clinics, and advises government agencies and
the pharmaceutical industry on reproductive issues.
PPFA's Family Planning International Assistance program provides technical
assistance and direct support to family planning and reproductive health
projects in developing countries throughout the world. Through advocacy efforts,
PPFA
promotes legislation increasing funds for foreign reproductive rights and
policies concerning the status of women worldwide. In addition, through
advocacy,
education and litigation, PPFA defends and campaigns for expansion of
reproductive rights including ensuring health insurance coverage for
contraception.
PPFA publishes a bimonthly newsletter, "Marketing Exchange", which provides a
forum for outreach into the community and details strategies for improving
customer satisfaction.
