announced communications between the two companies would be conducted in what
language? No, not German.
When non-English movies have characters of widely divergent languages
interact (see "Lovers of the Arctic Circle"), what language do they speak?
No, not
Spanish nor Finnish.
When international pilots communicate with landing towers at airports around
the world--even in France--what language do they use? No, not French.
When representatives from the three NAFTA nations conduct business, what
language do they use? No, not Spanish nor French.
When the King of Jordan announced a plan to educate all young people in his
country in computer sciences and one foreign language, what was his language of
choice? No, not French nor German.
What language is studied and spoken by more people around the world as a
second language than any other? No, not Mandarin Chinese. The answer to this
and
the other questions is: English!
Therefore, when we in the U.S. take special effort to make it easy for
residents to live in the U.S. without learning English, are we doing them a
favor or
are we doing them a disservice?
