| Californians
for Population Stabilization (CAPS) www.capsweb.org works to formulate and advance policies and programs designed to stabilize the population of California at a level which will preserve a good quality of life for all Californians.
Floridians for a Sustainable Population (FSP) www.flsuspop.org is
a nonprofit, statewide organization of concerned environmentalists who believe
that unrestrained population growth is the chief factor in the development of
sprawl that is eating up our wetlands, our forests and our needed agricultural
acreage. To keep our rivers, our shorelines and our reefs healthy and productive,
we must address the impact of rapid population growth on our quality of life
and the potential for a sustainable Florida for our grandchildren.
Hooked on Growth: Our Misguided Quest for Prosperity
www.growthbusters.com,
is a documentary in production now which examines the sustainability
of our love affair with growth everlasting. Even if we manage
to decrease per capita consumption and emissions, we can't
achieve true sustainability as long as we are increasing population.
Insistence on continued economic growth will prevent adequate
progress in reducing greenhouse gas emissions or ending the
liquidation of Earth's natural resources. It's time for modern
society to kick its destructive growth addiction. The first
step is to recognize and admit we have a problem.
Minnesotans
For Sustainability (MFS) www.mnforsustain.org provides information to assist in thoughtful reflection and in preparing decisions encouraging a sustainable Minnesota and United States. Not specific to Minnesota, almost all of the information presented is national and international in scope. Vermonters for a Sustainable Population (VSP) www.vspop.org strives to inform Vermonters about the negative impacts that continuing population growth will have on the environment, economy, and quality of life of future generations, and to motivate Vermonters to take actions that will result in a sustainable population.
